2017 ANNUAL HORSHAM RIVERSIDE WALK
We are very pleased to announce that the next annual Riverside Walk will take place on Saturday 15th July 2017.
As before the start is at 10.00 am at Horsham Rugby Club, Hammerpond Road, RH13 6PJ, and this year we shall be going in a clockwise direction, calling first at Chesworth Farm and then onto Warnham Nature Reserve and Strawberry Field Cafe.
This year we are supporting local charity, Action Medical Research for Children. This is a UK-wide children’s charity which funds desperately needed research to tackle the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children. It has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952 including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK, developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and testing the rubella vaccine.

We hope you will want to help by raising money, perhaps by sponsorship. If you would like to be involved, please contact Action by email email@example.com or call 07821 117881 for a sponsorship pack (or donate on the day).
This is a walk to explore the rivers and countryside on your doorstep. All ages and abilities welcome. Dogs allowed on leads. The circular walk is free, and supported by trained volunteers. You can walk at your own pace and leave at other points to make a short walk to suit you, or you can go all the way round (13 miles) to finish at the Rugby Club between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Participants walk at their own risk.
About this year’s event: The 2017 Annual Riverside Walk will start and finish at Horsham Rugby Club located in Hammerpond Road and will be supporting local charity, Action Medical Research for Children. We have been fortunate in obtaining the services of Paddington Bear (TM), to start the event and to help present 'Completion of Walk Certificates'. Action Medical Research is Paddington’s favourite UK charity and has been at the heart of fundraising for them for more than 40 years. You are welcome to raise funds for other charities.
Everyone, whatever their abilities are welcome to join the walk. A minibus on hire from Horsham District Community Transport will make regular pickups from various locations throughout the day and return walkers to the Rugby Club. The Association of Disabled Ramblers regularly takes part in this event.
A lunch stop will be taken in Warnham Nature Reserve where refreshments can be purchased. A band will play again this year during the break. This creates a perfect atmosphere for a picnic overlooking the lake whilst resting weary feet. The walk continues through the Reserve and gives the opportunity to see this wonderful local attraction and, if it’s your first visit, an incentive to return at a later date.
Afternoon refreshments are served at the Strawberry Fields farm shop and café in North Horsham and again this is a welcome break for walkers to sit and enjoy the beautiful views, rarely seen when travelling towards Gatwick and Crawley.
The event may be used to raise funds by sponsorship for other good causes. In previous years, 20 to 30 scouts and cubs have taken part and raised money for their activities. We would like more groups from schools and other youth organisations to join us and will welcome their enquiries. A Children's Treasure Hunt is also taking place with a reward for all children taking part aged 8 or under.
To register for the event please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 07780 701184.
A brief map of the walk is shown below but a full map can be found HERE
Please note that dogs are not allowed into Warnham Nature Reserve and walkers with dogs must follow Pondtail Road instead.
